During the past few weeks there have been several fires and other vehicle emergencies in the area.

Through these particular emergencies, officials at Hayden Fire Department have learned that many of the 911 calls placed by cell phones for assistance have been dispatched through Pinal County in Florence instead of the Kearny dispatch. When the calls go through Florence there is a longer wait time for local authorities to respond to the emergency.

Hayden Fire Chief Johnny Silva explained that residents who need assistance and are using a cell phone should call directly to dispatch 520-363-5566. Those calling from a land line should still continue to use 911 in the event of an emergency.
