Oracle Spring Run Car Show wows crowds again with more than 157 beautiful cars, motorcycles

The votes are all in from the judges and one vehicle came out on top with a “Best of Show” win from the 27th annual Oracle Spring Run Car Show held this past weekend in Oracle. Phil Camp and his 1959 Chevy Bel-Air was crowned as the top winner at the car show. Phil drove his beautiful car down from Roosevelt to participate in this car show, only his second. He and his wife Julie (Burns) are originally from San Manuel and both graduated from San Manuel High School. Phil said he will definitely be back next year. (John Hernandez photo) See more online at

    Oracle Patio Cafe to celebrate first anniversary in May

    It is hard to believe but the Oracle Patio Café will be one year old in May. To celebrate their first anniversary, the Patio Café is bringing back Band Night.

    The event will be May 11, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and seating is limited so tickets must be purchased in advance. Admission includes the show and dinner which will be an American BBQ Buffet.

    What’s happening at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum?

    One of the treasures of the Copper Corridor is the Boyce Thompson Arboretum near Superior.

    The Arboretum is an Arizona State Park located at Highway 60 milepost #223 near the historic copper mining town of Superior, 55 miles due east of Phoenix. The drive takes about two hours from Tucson via Highway 79 north through Florence to Highway 60 – then turn right and continue east another 12 miles. Trails are wheelchair accessible.     Evans’ bullet missed Rapelji. Fred Jackson then stepped around Rapelji and fired his gun. One of the bandits was seen to throw his arms up and fall backwards apparently wounded.

    Both sides began firing as rapidly as they could. The bandits retreated behind a pile of hay and manure as it was the only cover nearby. Although it gave Sontag and Evans cover, it did not stop the fusillade of bullets aimed at the haystack.
