The Pinal Mountain Foundation for Higher Education will host its annual golf tournament on Saturday, June 16, at the Cobre Valley Country Club golf course to benefit students on Gila Pueblo and San Carlos campuses who need help with textbooks and tuition.The event is a three-person scramble. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Cost is $45 per person, includes lunch, and is tax deductible. This year’s tournament includes longest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt. The awards ceremony will be held immediately after the tournament. Miami High School’s annual volleyball camp for grades 3 -12 will be held from June 18 – 21. The first session for grades 3 – 8 will run from 8 a.m. – noon and the second session, for ninth – 12th grade will be from 1 pm – 5 pm. Cost is $45 per person with $10 off for each sibling. Friday, June 22, is the setters’ camp, which starts at 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and is for all ages. Cost is $25 per person. Registration for volleyball camp starts at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 18, in the lobby of the Miami High School gym.
On Saturday, August 4, there will be a St. Francis Church Superior Fiesta Golf Tournament at the Queen Valley Golf Course in Three-Man Scramble format. Sign up is 6 a.m., with shotgun start at 7 a.m. Cost to participate is $40 per player; skins are $15 per team and Mulligans are two for $5. Prizes include first, second and third place. Breakfast and lunch will be sold and so will raffle tickets. All proceeds will benefit St. Francis Fiestas. There will be a benefit golf tournament on Aug. 4 at the SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club on Highway 77 south of Oracle. Shotgun start is at 8 a.m. and the format is four-person scramble. Fire Station 625 on HWY 77 on the north end of Mammoth. It will be for all the youngsters in the community. We have a fire safety trailer that the kids go into and learn fire safety, demonstrations, lots of stuff for the children, hot dogs from 1-2 and Sparky the Fire Dog
