The Blazers traveled to East Tucson to play the Tanque Verde first place team, Inferno. The Blazers started strong scoring three runs in the first inning only to be matched by the Inferno scoring three runs in their first at bat.

The Blazers defense tightened up for the next two innings only allowing one run to the Inferno, while the Inferno defense also allowed only one run.Heading into the fourth inning with the score tied 4-4 and time running out the Blazers scored three runs, bringing the score to 7-4.

With the bottom of the Inferno lineup coming up at their last bat, the Blazers should have wrapped up the game.Instead a lack of determination to put the game away along with three errors and a walked batter allowed their clean-up batter to come around to her turn andhit an in the park homerun for three runs and squeeze by with an 8-7 victory.

On the mound Daniella Hinojos (3K/3W/4ER) for three innings and Brianna Galarza (0K/3W/1 ER) relieving for one inning.

Offensively the Blazers were led by Samantha Bajarga (2-2, double), Daniella Hinojos (2-3, double), Brianna Galarza (2-3), Emma Alvarado (2-3), Julie Meza (1-2), and Deseray Godoy (1-2).

After a 15-minute break to shake off that tough loss, the Blazers were at it again.

The Inferno came up to bat first scoring two runs, starting right where they left off from the last game. The Blazers scored none.

Holding the Inferno to no runs in the second, needing a spark, the Blazers went back to small ball and with some fantastic base running the Blazers scored four runs in the inning.

Inferno came back and scored two runs in the third inning tying up the game 4-4.In the Blazers third at bat, two back-to-back doubles sparked a four-run third inning allowing the Blazers to pull out to an 8-4 lead.

With time running out, the Inferno had one last at bat.Bringing up the bottom of their lineup and what should have been a quick inning, once again turned into a nail biting inning.

One walked batter, one dropped ball, one fielding error and two throwing errors allowed Inferno to creep back into the game 8-7 and bring back the top of their lineup with one out.

After one quick timeout and team refocusing discussion, the Blazers pitcher struck out two of the final three batters to hold on for a win 8-7.

On the offensive side the Blazers were led by Brianna Galarza (1-2, double), Daniella Hinojos (1-2, double), Julie Meza (1-2) and Samantha Bajarga (1-2).

On the mound starting and closing Daniella Hinojos (3K/1W/3ER), and Brianna Galarza (4K/0W/1ER) relieving for two innings.

Up next for the Blazers this Sat. is Oro Valley’s third ranked team.
