Blazers finish off Baja softball season with two wins

The Blazers traveled to Oro Valley to face the third ranked Dare Devils. In the first game of the day, the Blazers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first at bat and never relinquished the lead.

The Blazers defense did not allow a run until the fifth inning when a runner scored on a throwing error. In the sixth and final inning, the Blazers added six runs to bring the final score to 12-1 in favor of the Blazers.

Starting on the mound Daniella Hinojos (6K/3W/1ER) and relieving Nikki Baldenegro (3K/3W/0ER) combined for the win. Offensively the team was led by Nikki Baldenegro (3-4), Julie Meza (3-4), Deseray Godoy (3-4), Samantha Bejarta (2-4) and Destiny Gonzalez (2-4).

In the second game of the afternoon, the Blazers started off slow and the Dare Devils started off strong scoring four runs in the first inning. The Blazers woke up the bats in the second inning tying up the score at four apiece.

The Blazers defense did not allow the Dare Devils to score again as the Blazers added runs every inning until the closing inning, with a final score of 10-4.

Shuffling the pitching rotation around Nikki Baldenegro (2K/1W/3ER) started and Daniella Hinojos (4K/4W/0ER) relieved this game. Offensively the Blazers were led by Deseray Godoy (2-3), Samantha Bejarta (2-3), Destiny Gonzalez (2-3) and Daniella Hinojos (2-4, 2 doubles).

Up next, the Blazers will compete in the end of the season Baja Tournament Wed. through Sat. at Saguaro High School, the Blazers will be going into the tournament as the third ranked seed.
