If you were craving some Cinco de Mayo fun and you traveled out of town, then you missed the best party of them all.
The Superior Substance Abuse Coalition held its Fifth Annual Drug and Alcohol Free Cinco de Mayo event this weekend on Main Street. This year the event was well attended with at least 150 people in attendance.
Event goers were treated to performances by the United Dance Crew from Coolidge, Mariachi Ensueno from Tucson. In addition to this live entertainment there were motivational speakers who shared with the audience about their journey to overcome drug and alcohol abuse. In addition to the entertainment there was a free piata bust, cake walk and catered dinner by Kiss the Chef Catering.
Each year students at the Superior Junior-Senior High School are invited to write an essay about how they personally beat the odds battling drugs, alcohol and other negative behaviors. The writers with the most compelling story are crowned as royalty over the event. This year Adrienne Hernandez was selected as the Queen and Marina Hiracheta was awarded Princess
If you missed this event you will not want to miss it next year and as an added bonus not only do you get FREE entertainment, FREE Prevention education and a FREE delicious meal you also won’t have a hangover or regrets the next day.
